Report from the second day of the Euro Dream Cup

Here is a report from the second match day in the Dream Euro Cup 2024 / Futsal EC in Rome.

Today we were to meet Finland in our second group stage match.

The Norwegian national team chose a slightly different charge for this match, with a long walk to Piazza del Popolo before the match, in the scorching sun and heat. After everyone had stuffed themselves with huge double ice creams at a local Gelateria, we were ready for battle.

The sour loss against Italy was to be avenged!

The Norwegian team took command from the start, and deservedly took the lead 1-0 after an ice-cold (!) penalty from captain Torbjørn. But Finnish sisu is not to be trifled with, and suddenly the tie came to 1-1. But Norway continued the big game, and we quickly took the lead again, both 2-1 and 3-1, after great goals from Tobias and Håkon.

Towards the end, the Finns pushed us back and reduced the score to 3-2. Then it boiled so much on the Norwegian coaching bench that there was a word from the referee with a clear message that everyone had to calm down. But after some nerve-wracking final minutes, the referee blew the match off and Norway has beaten Finland 3-2. Absolutely crazy!

Now England waits in the next match tomorrow. Then we have a new secret weapon: Norway will arrive at the stadium in beautiful Leeds kits, sponsored by our good supporters in Bergen Whites. We are going for another win and a place in the quarter-finals. New report coming tomorrow.
